Bintulu to host Sarawak Agrofest 2025 this August

KUCHING (May 21): The Sarawak Agrofest 2025 (SAF2025) will be taking place at the old airport site in Bintulu this Aug 22 to 31.

In announcing this, Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sarawak Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said the event could very well attract more than 600,000 visitors from across Sarawak.

“It aims to generate approximately RM6 million in sales – an increase of 20 per cent from last year’s RM5 million.

“This year’s theme ‘Industrialising Agro Sector Through Smart Technology’ highlights the transformative role of innovation in driving productivity, sustainability, and growth.

“By integrating cutting-edge technologies such as precision farming, automation, Internet of Things (IoT) and data analytics, we will be able to modernise traditional practices, empower agropreneurs and position the agriculture sector as a key economic driver,” he told a press conference, held at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex here yesterday.

It is also stated that Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has been invited to officiate at the opening ceremony for SAF2025, on Aug 23.

Adding on, Dr Rundi said several divisional and district-level agro-fests had been planned and would be implemented as a prelude to the SAF2025, with mini agro-fests already held in Limbang and Pakan.

“The upcoming mini agrofest will be held in Serian on May 23-25; in Spaoh on July 25-27; in Selangau on Aug 1-3; and Subis on Aug 8-10,” added the minister.
